How and when did you first realize you were experiencing hearing loss? What problems was that causing in your day-to-day life?

My wife brought it up about a decade ago, when I was in my late 30s. She thought at first I was ignoring her. Then I was teaching climbing school, I sometimes would have to ask a client to repeat a question.

Where did you first go for information or help? Why?

It was at a state fair. I was drug into a hearing testing booth. Two years later I saw an article on ReSound hearing aids.

Did you hesitate to seek care? Why or why not?

I hesitated because there was not a hearing device out that I could control and fine tune.

I suggest going to a highly respected audiologist and trying a state of the art hearing aid. It is imperative that the first impression of a hearing aid comes from a professional that is receptive to your hearing needs.

What was your biggest concern about hearing aids? Did that turn out to be true?

Bad sound. Not at all!

How have hearing aids changed your life? Were there any unexpected or surprising benefits?

I am much more dialed into my clients’ needs and concerns when climbing.
