“It’s nice to hear everything the first time!”

How and when did you first realize you were experiencing hearing loss?

A few years ago. Other folks sounded slurred and I had to ask them to repeat themselves.

Where did you first go for information or help? Why?

Preferred Hearing Centers of Orlando sent out a flyer offering a free consultation.

Based on your experience, do you have suggestions for others on how and where to start? Any other important things for them to consider?

It’s nice to hear everything the first time!

What was your biggest concern about hearing aids? Did that turn out to be true?

They’d be bulky and visible. No, not true at all.

How have hearing aids changed your life? How do they help you at your job, in your hobbies or at volunteer activities?

As a public speaker it’s nice to hear people’s questions the first time. And in the past, if I didn’t hear their question correctly I might answer them inappropriately.

What would you tell someone who is considering hearing aids?

Don’t be afraid of it. They’re practically invisible, they’re very lightweight, and they’re very helpful.
