“Find a hearing professional, don’t be shy, you deserve to be at your best.”
How and when did you first realize you were experiencing hearing loss?
I have had hearing loss for years. I have worn aids in the past. Even as a child I now realize I struggled a bit to hear. Oh my, what a difference they have made in my life! I can keep up in conversation and if I need more voice clarity I adjust that. I use the phone clip which gives me even more enjoyment.
Where did you first go for information or help? Why?
I worked at an ENT office and was aware of the technology. Once I could cover the cost, I moved forward.
Based on your experience, do you have suggestions for others on how and where to start? Any other important things for them to consider?
Don’t be afraid what others will say. With hearing loss, you are missing out on a major portion of your life. There are several aids to choose from. Work with a hearing professional to receive what’s right for you.
How have hearing aids changed your life? How do they help you at your job, in your hobbies or at volunteer activities?
My entire life – from working and being on the phone all day, to evenings out, singing in my church choir, to watching TV. With so many adjustments, I can customize to suit every situation.
What would you tell someone who is considering hearing aids?
Find a hearing professional, don’t be shy, you deserve to be at your best.
