How and when did you first realize you were experiencing hearing loss?
Mostly I often misunderstood what people were saying and I was not hearing sounds – particularly in the higher frequencies – that others were hearing.
Where did you first go for information or help? Why?
I went to see Matt Michaels. I had seen him before and liked him.
Based on your experience, do you have suggestions for others on how and where to start? Any other important things for them to consider?
I believe it is very important to be able to hear well. I’ve been told by my son, who is an ENT, that our brains thrive on stimulus and that the increased input to our brains via our ears helps keep our brains working at high capacity. Seems to me this is important as we age.
What was your biggest concern about hearing aids? Did that turn out to be true?
I guess my biggest concern was that the hearing aids would be uncomfortable and that they would be somehow annoying to wear. This did not turn out to be the case at all.
How have hearing aids changed your life? How do they help you at your job, in your hobbies or at volunteer activities?
They certainly have helped me to enjoy my life more. It’s nice to turn on the TV and know that I will be able to understand what’s being said without straining to do so.
What would you tell someone who is considering hearing aids?
Do it!

What do you like best about your ReSound LiNX Quattro hearing aids? How do they compare to your experience with other hearing aids?
I’ve never used any other hearing aids. My primary care doctor told me she thought I needed hearing aids, so I went to an audiologist, Matt Michaels – who was great. Matt’s tests showed me that I could use hearing aids and he fitted me with Resound LiNX Quattro. The hearing aids are really wonderful. I love the way I can use my phone to adjust them and that they charge so easily. They are very comfortable and it’s very common for me to forget I’m wearing them.
