How and when did you first realize you were experiencing hearing loss?

Having to ask people to repeat what they said on a continuous basis.  After getting my first hearing aids, I was overwhelmed to hear the birds chirping.  By not hearing some commands given, it caused a lot of anxiety and stress in my life.

Where did you first go for information or help? Why?  

The VA hospital as it was the resource that I had as a 100% disabled veteran.

Based on your experience, do you have suggestions for others on how and where to start? Any other important things for them to consider?

When you are asked by your companion why you have the TV so loud.

What was your biggest concern about hearing aids? Did that turn out to be true?

Would they assist me to live more comfortably? Yes.

How have hearing aids changed your life? How do they help you at your job, in your hobbies or at volunteer activities?

Retired now, but they enhance my life from then to now. I’m a happy 76-year-old and all my activities have been great.

What would you tell someone who is considering hearing aids?
