“You know about your hearing loss, the only one your fooling is yourself. Go in and have a hearing test.
How and when did you first realize you were experiencing hearing loss?
I play in a band and realize a long time ago that I was having hearing problems. It got to the point where my wife finally had enough of me saying “what.” She was the one who made me go in for a hearing aid.
Based on your experience, do you have suggestions for others on how and where to start? Any other important things for them to consider?
Make sure you do your homework and research in finding the right hearing aids for your loss. Also find an audiologist that is qualified. I found a great one in Ashley Johnson at Oakdale ENT Plymouth MN.
What was your biggest concern about hearing aids? Did that turn out to be true?
That people would look at me as being an old man. It hasn’t been a problem though. A lot of people ask how they have changed my life and they actually are thinking about getting some.
What would you tell someone who is considering hearing aids?
You know about your hearing loss, the only one your fooling is yourself. Go in and have a hearing test, that should help you realize just how badly you need them.
