“Don’t hesitate. Don’t be self-conscious. Don’t deny yourself the quality of life that you deserve. The impact is remarkable.”

How and when did you first realize you were experiencing hearing loss?

I had been having trouble hearing on my cell phone, and in restaurants for several years. I often found myself letting calls go to voice mail, and instead of talking on the phone, I would follow up with a text message. Eventually, my husband began telling me that I was yelling when I was on the phone as well as when we were in public places. That’s when I decided to go for a hearing test.

Based on your experience, do you have suggestions for others on how and where to start? Any other important things for them to consider?

I would recommend going for a hearing test at the first sign of a hearing issue. Even though I was only in my mid-50s, constantly having to ask people to repeat themselves made me feel so old. The Bluetooth ReSound hearing aids will be the best gift you ever give yourself!

What would you tell someone who is considering hearing aids?
Don’t hesitate. Don’t be self-conscious. Don’t deny yourself the quality of life that you deserve. The impact is remarkable.
What was your biggest concern about hearing aids? Did that turn out to be true?

I actually never had concerns about wearing hearing aids. My father wore them when he got older, and I assumed I would also have a hearing loss as I aged. I just didn’t realize how much my hearing loss was already impacting me.

Immediately following my hearing test, I tried on a pair of demos, and wound up wearing a set of ReSound demos home that same day. I placed my order for my own pair before leaving the office.

I put my hearing aids on before I get out of bed every morning, and don’t take them off until I turn my lights off to go to sleep at night. In fact, there have been nights that I have slept in my hearing aids. I absolutely love them, and I especially love the Bluetooth function.
