“I’m so thankful that I found the perfect one [hearing aids] for my needs. Anyone who has hearing loss should consider purchasing the new ReSound ONE hearing aids.”
How and when did you first realize you were experiencing hearing loss?
I’ve been noticing for awhile that I had hearing loss but was not sure how bad it was until I saw an Audiologist. I was turning up everything from the TV, radio station, to my stereo. When I noticed how low my wife was putting the volume on the TV, which was much different than mine, I realized I had a problem.
Based on your experience, do you have suggestions for others on how and where to start? Any other important things for them to consider?
See a good Audiologist and get your hearing tested. It doesn’t hurt to give it a try. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
What was your biggest concern about hearing aids? Did that turn out to be true?
Being a singer/guitarist/choir director, I was concerned that hearing music was going to be much different. At first, trying out different hearing aids, small ones in the ear, and some a little bigger, I realized there would be some adjustments. One particular adjustment is having the manufacturer make the sound hole bigger. That helped me to hear my voice and instruments much better.
Having so many fitting issues with the in-ear hearing aids, I asked my audiologist if ReSound would let me switch to the ReSound ONE hearing aids, which they did for free. I’ve had mine for about 2 months now and I love them. At age 64, I feel like I have my youth hearing again. I’ve almost forgotten what it was like to hear normally. The new in-ear microphone (M&RIE) feature lets me hear sounds like they should be, especially my own voice which is normally an issue with hearing aids. Pairing the device with my iPhone was a synch. I love being able to answer my phone and listen to sound and music directly from my hearing aids without bothering others. Listening to both of my TV’s through my hearing aids via the TV Streamer 2 is a bonus. I also bought the Phone Clip + for talking without the phone at my mouth. I’ve also paired the phone clip to my PC and now I can attend a Skype meeting with my hearing aids.
Being a choir leader and playing guitar, having multiple programs allowed me to set up a program specifically for music. I also have a program set up for restaurants and loud places. I don’t notice the hearing aids over my ears and often forget I’m wearing them. Recharging them without having to change batteries is a plus. It’s important to find an audiologist that understands these hearing aids and knows how to set them up specifically for your hearing. I’m so thankful that I found the perfect one for my needs. Anyone who has hearing loss should consider purchasing the new ReSound ONE hearing aids.
