I can enjoy my great grandchildren and hear every little sound they make.”
How and when did you first realize you were experiencing hearing loss?
When I began to experience hearing loss about a year ago, I thought it wasn’t enough to get hearing aids. After my family complained about their inability to communicate with me, I decided to do something about it. I tried a few inexpensive fixes that didn’t work very well. I finally decided I had to invest a little more to be able to hear. I bought ReSound hearing aids and I am very happy with them. I am an 87-year-old female and I am able to engage in all my activities without having to ask folks to talk louder or repeat everything. When I wake up in the AM, I reach for my hearing aids. My life is better when I can hear. I used to think that hearing aids meant old age and I thought I would never use them. Now I realize that I am old and having good hearing aids make life easier. My ReSound hearing aids work well without any problems. I didn’t need a professional to tell me I couldn’t hear but I did see a doctor to have my ears examined.
Based on your experience, do you have suggestions for others on how and where to start? Any other important things for them to consider?
Based on my experience I would suggest getting a hearing test if you are having trouble with communication. I hesitated before deciding to take action, but now I am so glad I have ReSound hearing aids because my days are so much easier. I don’t hesitate to attend events because I can’t hear. I didn’t want to spend the money, but it is the best investment I could make. I can enjoy my great grandchildren and hear every little sound they make. I can communicate with my adult grandchildren and their parents without always asking them to speak louder. I can only say that for me these hearing aids are a blessing.
What was your biggest concern about hearing aids? Did that turn out to be true?
I just didn’t want to admit that I am 87 years old and can’t hear. I always thought hearing aids would define me as REAL OLD – what was I thinking!! I am pretty old, and these ReSound aids make my life so much easier. My life has changed for the better and when I wake up, I reach for my hearing aids. They are barely visible but if someone sees them, I don’t care.
What would you tell someone who is considering hearing aids?
If you need help hearing, don’t hesitate. I could have been enjoying life sooner if I had not been so stubborn.
